An employee asking for a salary increment

Question:

iam working as a teacher in a school .in my school teachers have to ask management comittes forincrement .one has toapply to get the same .i do not want to ask other peoplefor any thing other than Allah iam i correct in my apporach

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

 

It is permissible for a hired person [employee] to ask the one who hired him [employer] for a pay rise, as he asks an authorized person for a pay in return for work, thus he asks for his right, and this is not at all a dispraised request.

As regards the dispraised request, then Al-Khaadimi  may  Allaah  have  mercy  upon  him clarified it saying: “Asking for money and for a worldly benefit in which one has no right for, then this is forbidden except in case of necessity, like poverty or being in dire need and the like.” Therefore, the dislikeability is reported about such a request.
