Her ex-friend does not want to take her loan back from her

Question:

salam aleikum. i have one question about borowing money. i have borow money from one friend and now i want to pay back the money. not everything in the same time but little every month. the problem is that me and this sister are not longer friends but how ever i have say for her and for her family that i want to pay back the money many times but she ignores me. i dont know what to do know because i have tried many times to say for her but she ignores it like she dont want them. will allah punnish me for this in the judgementday if i have try but she dont want???

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

 

You are obliged to return the money to your friend in one lump-sum unless she agrees that you repay it on instalments or that you face financial difficulties and you are unable to return it (in one lump-sum), in which case she should give respite to you until you become able to repay.

As regards your friend not willing to discuss the matter of loan with you, then this does not make you acquitted from the liability of repaying it. However, if you repay the loan to her any way she can get it, then, in this case, you are acquitted from liability.
