Question:

If I want to print marriage invitation card is it OK to put any words reffering to "Allah" , Prophet(PBUH),Quran such as Bismiillah,Inshaallah,Alhamdullillah etc as most of these cards thrown out to dustbin which is bad thing , if we can not write these words what is alternative to it ?shall wemake intention in mind. For example if i am mentioning marriage date i have to put inshaallh on this date but if i can not use word Inshaallah (as it contain word Allah) what is other alternative.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Writing the Name of Allaah or some Quranic verses and the like in these cards is permissible – Allaah willing. A question was asked to the Permanent Committee of Iftaa' (issuing Fatwa) in regard to writing "Bismillaah" (in the Name of Allaah) in medical prescriptions and the like and its answer was: “Bismillaah Ar-Rahmaani Ar-Raheemi” (in the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful) may be written at the beginning of each paper of the papers of medical prescription as there is evidence of the excellence of writing it and the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) used to write it at the beginning of his letters. As regards some papers on which “Bismillaah” is written may be thrown in some improper places, then the writer is not sinful; rather, the sin falls upon the one who throws it or humiliates it.”

Allaah Knows best.
