Question:

The newspapers tell you what happened yesterday, the Qur'aan tells you how to prepare for tomorrow...i read this article is it right or wrong just want to understand i thought they compare quran and news paper jazaka allah khair alllah knws best

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

There is no problem with the statement mentioned in the question as it is not considered as degrading the Quran. It seems – and Allaah Knows best – that the writer of this statement wants to say to the people: If you give importance to newspapers which mostly report the news of what had already taken place, then you should rather give importance to the Quran as the Quran does not only convey the news of people in the past but it also conveys the news of the people who will come in the future and it tells of what will happen on the Day of Judgment and draws our attention to be prepared for that Day, and to take good provision for it; as Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allaah.}[Quran 2:197] Allaah also Says (what means): {For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.}[Quran 37:61]

Allaah Knows best.
