Question:

Assalamu 3laikum If a mother finds his son peeping through the bathroom window and inside the bathroom the sister in law of that son was having bath, does the mother become sinful if she doesnot inform the sister in law of that son that her(mother's) son was peeping though the bathroom?Did the son violate the right of his sister in law by peeping at her while she was having bath? What the son must do to satisfy himself if he remains confused with the fatwa of concealing himself because he thinks he has violted the right of his sister in law and Allah will not forgive him because it is the right of his sister in law.If after knowing the fatwa still he remains confused should he go and inform her about his sin so to come out of the confusion? Is there any fatwa which says that he can conceal himself due to his shyness after having violated the right of his sister in law even he knows that she will not get upset if he informed her about his sin?If the sister in law asks the mother of the son,why did her(mother) son peep at her(sister in law),what should the mother do in that case?Did the mother also cheat the sister in law of that son by not informing her that she(mother)also saw her son peeping at the bathroom window? If the son after searching different fatwas finds out that he didnot violate the right of his sister in law but still doesnt get satisfied and thinks that right of sister in law has been violted, should he go inform her just to guarantee his forgiveness and to come out of confusion?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Among one's duties toward his brother is to do what preserves and protects his honor, and to shield it from potential violations, not to be the violator himself. There is no doubt that such an act is sinful. This brother should return to Allaah and repent of his sin; the conditions of the sincere repentance have been underlined in Fatwa 86527.

He should also conceal his misdeed and he or his mother should not tell anyone about it as we explained in Fatwas 84052 and 83573. Concerning a sin such as this one, it is enough for him to repent of his sin and conceal it. He does not have to do anything else.

Allaah Knows best.
