Question:

Assalamu alaikum brother,
Is prophet Mohamed slave of Hamza forefathers? Why prophet Mohammad did not give any refute to Hamza words? I ask this question from below hadees. This hadees used by Christians against prophets Mohamed. Pls give me detailed answer.
Narrated Husain bin `Ali:
`Ali bin Abi Talib said: "I got a she-camel as my share of the war booty on the day (of the battle) of Badr, and Allah's Messenger (?) gave me another she-camel. I let both of them kneel at the door of one of the Ansar, intending to carry Idhkhir on them to sell it and use its price for my wedding banquet on marrying Fatima. A goldsmith from Bani Qainqa' was with me. Hamza bin `Abdul-Muttalib was in that house drinking wine and a lady singer was reciting: "O Hamza! (Kill) the (two) fat old she camels (and serve them to your guests). So Hamza took his sword and went towards the two she-camels and cut off their humps and opened their flanks and took a part of their livers." (I said to Ibn Shihab, "Did he take part of the humps?" He replied, "He cut off their humps and carried them away.") `Ali further said, "When I saw that dreadful sight, I went to the Prophet (?) and told him the news. The Prophet (?) came out in the company of Zaid bin Haritha who was with him then, and I too went with them. He went to Hamza and spoke harshly to him. Hamza looked up and said, 'Aren't you only the slaves of my forefathers?' The Prophet (?) retreated and went out. This incident happened before the prohibition of drinking."
Sahih al-Bukhari 2375

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

When Hamzah may Allaah be pleased with him said those words, he was drunk and did not know what he was saying. It was narrated in a version of the Hadeeth cited in Saheeh Al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim that Hamzah may Allaah be pleased with him said: “Are you anything but the slaves of my father?” Thus, the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) realized that he was intoxicated. [End of quote] It is well known that a drunk person is unaware of what he is saying, and therefore a sane person would not bother responding to him.

We would like to advise you, dear brother, after adhering to Taqwa of Allah, The Exalted, to refrain from reading the misconceptions raised by the enemies of Islam as long as you do not have adequate religious knowledge to refute them, lest something thereof settles in your heart and you find it difficult afterwards to get rid of them. They may even lead you to doubt your religion altogether, Allah forbids. The texts of the Sharee‘ah indicate that the Muslims are urged to avoid misconceptions and to distance themselves from them for fear of being negatively affected by them. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said in an authentic Hadeeth: “Let him who hears of the Dajjaal (Antichrist) go far from him, for I swear by Allah that a man will come to him thinking himself to be a believer and end up following him because of the misconceptions he (the Dajjaal) would raise.” [Abu Daawood]

Ibn Al-Qayyim may Allaah have mercy upon him said in ‘Uddat As-Saabireen: “The optimal means to eliminate evil is to distance oneself from its causes and the places where it is expected to be found.” [End of quote]

Allah Knows best.
