Ruling of Renuva

Question:

Would getting injections to face called “Renuva” (made from human adipose allograft matrix, which is a purified matrix of donated human fat tissue, containing collagen, proteins, and growth factors), it helps grow fat and then eventually dissolves and is replaced by the patient’s own fat. Would this make my wudu and ghusl invalid? Or prayer invalid because it contains human fat cells? It claims to eventually go away. I am so insecure of my face since teens and feel this will help a lot.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is His slave and Messenger.

Human fat cells introduced into the body by injection do not affect the validity of prayer or the state of purity. The stronger scholarly view is that human fat cells are pure, just like the rest of the body’s tissues – except for blood, according to the majority of scholars.

Even if a person were injected with impure cells beneath the skin, many scholars still hold that this would not invalidate prayer or purity, since the impurity is internal and not on the surface of the body.

Finally, if such injections contain human cells or tissues for the purpose of correcting a defect or disfigurement that causes psychological harm – rather than for beautification –  then, due to this need, they are permissible.

Allah Knows best.
