Ruling on Giving Charity Through Scheduled Bank Transfers

Question:

Assalamu alaikum Shaykh,Is giving charity through bank automation considered as giving charity? I read Hadith to give charity everyday and im intending to automate it in sha Allah but not sure if we get the reward. I live in Australia and there is none around to give charity on daily basis. So is it better to give charity online everyday or automate it to get the reward bi idhnillah. JazakAllah khair for clarifying.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His Slave and Messenger.

Giving charity through scheduled bank transfers is included in the definition of charity, and you will be rewarded for it, Allah willing.

Whether charity is given through direct payment, through a one-time or recurring bank transfer, or by appointing someone to deliver the charity on your behalf, all of this falls under the meaning of charity, and you will be rewarded for it, Allah willing.
