Reading the Qur'an in 3 months

Question:

If I finish the whole Qur'an in more than three months, not in one month, is it OK or not?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. It is better for a Muslim not to let forty days pass without reciting the whole Qur'an. It is also dislikeable to finish the whole Qur'an in less than seven days. Imam Abu Dawood narrated from Abdullah that "he asked the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam); in how many days should one complete the recitation of the Qur'an? He said: "In forty days. He then said: In one month. He again said: In twenty days. He then said: In fifteen days. He then said: In ten days. Finally he said: In seven days and did not agree to less than seven days" . There are many good people who used to complete the whole recitation of the Qur'an in seven days such as Ibrahim al-Nakhai , Urwah Bin Zubair , Ahmad Bin Hanbal . Imam Masrooq admired doing so. Imam Ahamad Bin Hanbal said: 'According to many narrations the Salaf used to recite the whole Qur'an within forty days' . Allah knows best.
