Question:

What is the approximate time gap between Aadam's and Nooh's, may Allaah exalt their mention, Ummah?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

There was ten centuries between Aadam and Nooh (Noah), may Allaah exalt their mention. The evidence for this is what Al-Haakim may Allaah have mercy upon him reported in his Mustadrak that Abu Umaamah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that a man asked the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ): "Was Aadam a Prophet?" So the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) replied: "Yes, he was spoken to (revelation came down to him) and taught." The man then asked: "What was the period of time between him and Prophet Nooh? The Prophet replied: "There were ten centuries." The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was again asked: "How many Prophets were there?" He replied: "There were three hundred and fifteen altogether."

Moreover, Al-Haakim and Ibn Abu Shaybah may Allaah have mercy upon them also reported that Ibn 'Abbaas may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that: "Between Aadam and Nooh there was ten centuries, all of them were on a true religion", and in the wording of Ibn Abu Shaybah the following addition is mentioned: "All of them were upon Islam."

Allaah knows best.
