The Merit of Sahoor (Pre-dawn meal) - I

Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), said, “Eating the Sahoor (pre-dawn meal) is a blessed act. So, do not neglect it even if you take just a gulp of water, because Allah The Almighty praises those who partake in the pre-dawn meal and His angels ask forgiveness for them." [Ahmad]

Moreover, 'Abdullaah ibn Al-Haarith relates from one of the Companions of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), that he said: “I entered the house of the Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) whilst he was having the Sahoor. He said,‘Indeed, the Sahoor is a blessing that Allah has granted you, so do not disregard it.’ [An-Nasaa‘i and Ahmad]
In fact, the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), even supplicated, as reported by Abu Suwayd, may Allah be pleased with him: “O Allah! Extol and be Kind to those who eat Sahoor.”
Additionally, ‘Ubaadah ibn Nasiyy narrates his, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), instructions: “Do not neglect the Sahoor even if it is water, as it is said that it is a bountiful meal.”[Ibn Abi ‘Aasim]
As mentioned above, Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, reports that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), said, “Allah The Almighty commends those who consume the pre-dawn meal and His angels seek pardon for them.” [Ibn Hibbaan]
He, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), also specified, as Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, recounts: "The best Sahoor for the believer is dates."[Abu Daawood, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh -Albaani]
