JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, (AFP) -Arab League chief Amr Mussa wrapped up a brief visit to Saudi Arabia on Sunday that focused on the Middle East conflict and plans to restructure his organisation.
During his visit of several hours to the Red Sea city, Mussa met separately with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.
In a statement before leaving for Kuwait, Mussa said his meetings had centred on "current Arab developments and in particular questions that will be examined during the meeting in Cairo Wednesday of the Arab League follow-up committee."
He added that he had revealed "details of a restructuring plan for the Arab League and the role of Saudi Arabia in the restructuring."
The meeting of the Arab League committee was called by the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and will focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Arab League committee groups Egypt, Libya, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the Palestinian Authority.
The GCC, also comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
