Among the Iraqis there
Here residents celebrate the news by taking to the streets, firing shots into the air and sounding car horns. "This makes us very happy," says this man. "Now we can live in peace." Another man says it's a chance to congratulate the Iraqi people themselves, that a criminal has been caught. "It's a day we'll never forget," he says. "We've waited 35 years for this moment." But it's not good news for all Iraqis. Some have gathered to express their support for Saddam Hussein. This man says they have nothing bad to say about him. "I want to say to the rest of the world, to people outside of Iraq, that we don't have gas, electricity or water. We lack basic items and it's a critical situation," he says. "I want to say that under Saddam Hussein things were a lot better. There is no cause for joy. Here we are not happy. These young men chant a song that says they will sacrifice their blood and their souls for Saddam. **PHOTO CAPTION*** An elderly Jordanian man kisses a picture of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in down town Amman December 14, 2003.
