What is the meaning of the Hadeeth indicating that Muslims will see Allaah as they see the moon?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
This Hadeeth is Saheeh. The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that Muslims will clearly see Allaah as they can clearly see the moon. In this Hadeeth the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, encouraged Muslims to observe the Fajr (dawn) and ‘Asr (afternoon prayers). Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated this Hadeeth on the authority of Jareer .
This Hadeeth proves that Muslims will clearly see Allaah on the Day of Resurrection as they see the full moon. This is the belief of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal Jamaa'ah.
Abu At-Tayyib Shams Ad-Deen Aabaadi said that the Hadeeth mentioned these two prayers in particular for two reasons:
1- Because angels ascend to the sky and descend to the earth at these two periods of time.
2- Because it is difficult to observe the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers constantly since Fajr is when one is asleep, and ‘Asr is when one finishes work and wants to rest.
