Reciting the Quran on water for Ruqyah

Question

assalam wa alykum if the person wants to read surahs and blow it on the water then the person should blow on the water after reciting every surah or blow after reciting all the surahs togather? and which all surahs should be recited to blow on the water for protection from all the evils? jazakallahhukhair

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already issued Fataawa 85505, 91106 and 82918 clarifying the permissibility of blowing after reciting the Quran (for the purpose of Ruqyah), so please refer to them.

The matter in this regard is easy; it is permissible to blow after reciting each Chapter, or after having recited all the Chapters. One may blow while or before reciting the Quran. ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah have mercy upon her narrated: ‘‘When the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) would go to bed, he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) would blow on his palms while reciting Chapters 112, 113 and 114.’’ [Al-Bukhari] Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him said: ‘‘This means that he blows while reciting them.’’

The entire verses of the Quran are beneficial, Allaah willing, in protecting oneself from magic, evil eye and other evils.

There are some verses and Chapters that are even more confirmed in reciting them for the above purposes, and we mentioned them in Fataawa 88660 and 81643.

Allaah Knows best.
