Question

Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His Slave and Messenger.
According to the Fatwa of the Permanent Committee of Iftaa’: “Clear evidence from the Quran and Sunnah - and the consensus of the righteous predecessors - indicates that there are only two holidays in Islam: ‘Eed Al-Fitr and ‘Eed Al-Adh-ha. Celebrating any other occasion related to a person, a group, an event, or an idea is considered a religious innovation and it is forbidden for Muslims to celebrate, approve of, rejoice at, or help others partake in such celebrations. This is because doing so constitutes transgressing the limits of Allaah. Verily, whoever transgresses the limits of Allaah has certainly wronged himself... It is also impermissible for a Muslim to help others celebrate such innovated occasions through any possible means, whether it has to do with food, beverage, selling, buying, manufacturing, giving gifts, corresponding, announcing or anything else, because all of that is cooperating in sin and transgression and disobedience to Allaah, The Almighty, and to the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and Allaah says (what means): {… And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allaah; indeed, Allaah is severe in penalty.} [Quran 5:2]...”
Therefore, it is impermissible for a Muslim to work in factories manufacturing Al-Mawlid sweets. The money you have earned through working in such factories – starting from the moment you became aware of the impermissibility of working there - is considered unlawful. Hence, you should repent from such a sin and dispose of this money by giving it in charity to the poor and the needy and for other charitable activities. If you are poor, then jurists maintained that you are entitled to take from that money only what you need and nothing more.
