Will people's voices in the Hereafter be the same as their voices in the present life?

Question

Is it true that people's voices on the Day of Judgment will be the same as their voices in the present life?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, mentioned that on the Day of Judgment, the haughty people will be gathered as small as ants. [At-Tirmithi (Al-Haafith Ibn Hajar: Hasan)]. Al-Muthahhar may Allaah have mercy upon him stated that this Hadeeth (narration) means that they will be gathered on the day of Judgment as tiny as ants, but having their own human form. This opinion was supported by At-Teebi may Allaah have mercy upon him.

With regard to your question, we do not have any narration or information on this issue, except what was reported from Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him that the women who wail for the dead will be divided into two rows on the Day of Judgment, on the left and right, and they will bark like dogs. [’Ath-Tha‘labiyy in his book of Tafseer] [Dha‘eef narration].

This is all we know about this issue, anything else is a matter of the Unseen that requires a text of revelation to be verified.

Allaah Knows best.
