Suspects Her Mother Affected Her With Evil Eye

Question

Is it possible that a mother could give her daughter evil eye through angry stares? Suppose if a mother always stares at her daughter and appears to have negative thoughts while doing so, is it likely she is giving nazar? The daughters life always falls apart when in the mothers house but felt good when she was apart living with another relative and didn’t have the same problems with depression anxiety, stress

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is possible that the mother affects her daughter with evil eye; rather, it is possible that a person affects himself with evil eye.

However, one should not have the audacity to say that it is the mother who affected her with evil eye without evidence.

In any case, that girl should look for tangible causes of what happens to her, and consult trustworthy doctors in compliance with the advice of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) about seeking treatment.

She should not confirm that it is her mother who afflicted her with evil eye without evidence or strong indication.

In case her mother's looks bother her, then she should speak to her in a soft and gentle manner and ask her to stop what harms her.
