Hadeeth That Miscarried Fetus Drags Its Mother To Paradise

Question

Asalam o alikum.. i need to ask about the hadith that is "miscarried fetus will take her mother to paradise " is this hadith is for both the parents or only for mother? JazakAllah

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The Hadeeth which the questioner referred to was narrated on the authority of Mu‘aath ibn Jabal may Allaah be pleased with him who narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the miscarried fetus will drag its mother by the umbilical cord to Paradise if she (endured patiently and) sought the rewards (of Allah for her loss).” [Ahmad and Ibn Maajah] The Isnaad (chain of narration) of the Hadeeth is inauthentic, and some Hadeeth scholars classified it as Hasan (sound). Another Hadeeth underlined that a miscarried fetus will intercede for both parents and not only the mother. ‘Ali may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said that it will be said to the miscarried fetus on the Day of Judgment: “Take your parents into Paradise. So it will drag them with its umbilical cord until it takes them into Paradise.” [Ibn Maajah] Its chain of narration is inauthentic as well. Shaykh Ibn Baaz, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said about the miscarried fetus after life is breathed into it: “It is hoped that it would intercede for its parents.” [End of Quote] Verily, the grace of Allah, The Almighty, is vast.
