He Feels Bubbles Coming Out of His Backside

Question

I experience bubbles coming out of my anus or backside or from that area very often when I am moving around. I do hear it, it makes a subtle noise that I detect but sometimes it is undetected. It's an odd sensation but I have felt it coming out of me. There is not a smell. I have had this issue for over four years. I also break wind like everyone else in a normal way without incontinence. However, this problem comes suddenly without notice, even when I am not in need of relieving myself. I cannot make wuzu and salah without its occurrence. Please advise me.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If this feeling is a doubtful matter and it is not certain, then just ignore it and do not pay any attention to it.

If it is possible, for example, that it is only contractions in the anal muscle or something like that, then do not pay any attention to this.

You should act upon certainty that you did not discharge anything.

However, if you are certain, a certainty upon which you can swear, that you have discharged something, then this discharge invalidates ablution; in which case, you must perform ablution after its discharge.

If its discharge is continuous throughout the time of prayer [example from Thuhr time until the beginning of ‘Asr time], then your ruling is the ruling of the person who suffers from incontinence; you perform ablution after the time of the prayer begins, and you pray with this ablution whatever obligatory and supererogatory prayers as you wish until the time of this prayer ends.

For more benefit on the prayer of a person suffering from wind incontinence, please refer to Fataawa 335023, 380521, 380305, and 361699.

Allah Knows best.
