Buying or Sewing or Wearing Cloths that Bear the Name 'Ahmed'

Question

I wanted to ask, that I live in Pakistan and there is a famous brand of cloths here, named “GUL AHMED” it produces cloths worn all over the country, and I am among it's coustomers I usually buy unstitched cloths from the brand and give them to tailors for stitching, the problem is that the cloths contain name of the brand that has name “Ahmed” in it which is among the names of Allah's Apostle (Peace be upon him) the tailor may throw the brand name anywhere (after stitching), so what should I do?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing wrong with buying or sewing or wearing these cloths, even if the name “Ahmed” is written on it, and you do not have to do anything about it, as it is not necessarily that what is meant by it is our Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ).

Just having the same name as the name of one of the Prophets does not necessitate that that name be treated completely as the name of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ).

However, it must be venerated and respected if we know that what is meant by it is the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) such as when the expression: sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is mentioned after the name, or when the name is described with the Message and Prophethood, or the like.

Allah knows best.
