A wife can advise her husband on how to behave with her

Question

Salam alaikum, I am curious if it is ok for a wife to advise her husband on how to behave with her? For example, the other day my husband got upset with me for not taking the recycle out of the apartment for two days, and interrupted me when I was trying to explain why telling me I hadn’t done anything that day. I had spent the day taking care of our young baby and doing many things around the house, but if he had just said “hey, the recycle is bothering me, can you take it out?” I would have done it right away. Is it allowed for me to tell him this? I didn’t say anything but would like to know the correct way to act in these types of situations. Jazakallahu khair and may Allah reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing wrong with a woman advising her husband on how to behave with her, and it is important to choose an appropriate method of advising, which is to be kind and gentle, as well as choosing the right time, so that the advice could bring results.

There should be foundations for dealing between the spouses within the framework of mutual respect, in honor of this great relationship. Allah the Almighty says (what means): {And do not forget graciousness between you.} [Quran 02:237].

One of the most important things that helps to bring stability to the family is the spouses' perception of their duties towards each other and their fulfillment of each other's rights, and the spouses must strive to overlook mistakes and accept excuses from each other.

Allah knows best.
