All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (
) is His Slave and Messenger.
Selling jewellery to Muslim and non-Muslim women is permissible, unless the seller knows, or strongly believes, that the buyer will use it in a prohibited manner, or if such misuse is prevalent among the people of that land. This is because, as the jurists state, rulings are based on what is predominant, and rare exceptions are not given legal consideration. In such a case, it would not be permissible to sell it, as that would fall under assisting in sin.
The scholars have explicitly stated the prohibition of selling grapes to someone who is known to intend to produce wine from them. Allah, the Most High, Says: {And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and transgression} [Quran 5:2]
As for selling such jewellery to someone whose manner of using it is unknown, the basic ruling is that it is permissible.
