Is the Wali allowed to sign on a marriage contract between his daughter and a man who works at a bank? Will he be held responsible and be sinful?
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad
is His slave and Messenger.
If the prospective husband works at an interest-based (usurious) bank and is aware that this work is forbidden, then he is considered a fāsiq (a person who persistently disobedient to Allah), and his religious commitment and character are not considered acceptable [for marriage]. Allah, the Exalted, says (what means): {And the good women are for the good men, and the good men are for the good women.} [Qur’an 24:26]
In the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah
it is reported from al-Shaʿbi that he said: “Whoever gives a fāsiq in marriage has severed his ties of kinship.”
Therefore, the woman's guardian should not marry his daughter to such a man, because he is a fāsiq.
Allah Knows best.
