Question

Is it permissible to bury dead Muslims in graves of non-Muslims? What is the ruling in this concern?

Accepted Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is neither permissible to bury dead Muslims in graves of non-Muslims nor to bury non-Muslims in graves of Muslims unless there is dire need, such as no place exists for the dead except such a grave, or it is not possible to transfer the dead to another place or lest there is fear the dead will decay.
