Question

Is it permissible to dance on "al-Anasheed"?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is no blame on a woman to dance on striking the Duff (percussion instrument consisting of a single drumhead of skin stretched over a circular wooden frame) and permissible singing on the occasion of a wedding ceremony and so on provided that such an action should only be in front of women (and her husband). However, such an action becomes forbidden if it is done in the presence of non-Mahram men or with music and obscene words that promote vice and abomination.

Allah knows best.
