Accepted Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Allah mentions backbiting in verse 12 of Surah Al-Hujurat. In this verse Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.}[49: 12]. And He mentions calumnies in verse 11 of Surah Al-Qalam where He Says: {A slanderer, going about with calumnies,}[68: 11]. Allah knows best.
